Singer Percy Sledge was one of the most identifiable voices in the genre of country-soul, which emerged from Muscle Shoals in the mid-1960s. In 1966 Sledge recorded his most iconic song, When A Man Loves a Woman. The song topped Billboard’s Top 100 for 16 weeks. Percy Sledge’s career spanned 5 decades. He was inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
