The Heisman Memorial Trophy is the oldest, most prestigious award in college football and state teams have produced five winners.  Two Auburn quarterbacks have won the Heisman – Pat Sullivan in 1971 and Cam Newton in 2010.  University of Alabama running backs Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry won Heismans in 2009 and 2015, respectively.  The most famous winner the state has produced is Auburn running back Bo Jackson, who narrowly won in 1985 and went on to play professional football and baseball.
