Birmingham native Hugh Martin was an acclaimed composer, lyricist, and playwright whose career spanned the golden age of musical theatre and film. He is best known for his contributions to the score of the 1944 film Meet Me in St Louis, including the hit song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Martin’s work received two Academy and four Tony Award nominations. He is a member of the Songwriters and the Alabama Music Halls of Fame.
