Jerry Brown grew up in Sulligent watching his father create pots for customers all over west Alabama. After twenty years as a logger in Marion County, Jerry decided to start his own pottery business. From the memory of his father’s techniques, he built a kiln and a mule-driven clay mill and, with clay he dug himself, started making pots on the same wheel his father had used. Jerry became famous for his face jugs and traditional techniques. He passed away in 2016, but his wife Sandra and the family still make and sell pots.
