For decades, Kathryn Tucker Windham was Alabama’s pre-eminent storyteller. A trailblazing reporter for several newspapers in the state, she published over twenty different books chronicling the people, food, culture, and ghost legends of Alabama. Her most famous book, 13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey, introduced generations of schoolchildren to southern lore and voice. She was also an accomplished photographer. The Kathryn Tucker Windham Museum and Library in her native Thomasville preserves her memory with photos and audio exhibits.
