Chambers County native Millard Fuller was the founder of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit organization recognized globally for building houses for people in need. Fuller was widely regarded as the leader of the modern-day movement for affordable housing and has been honored for his work in the United States and abroad as the recipient of numerous awards and honorary degrees. President Bill Clinton awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996.
