Bessemer blues legend Henry “Gip” Gipson has been the proprietor of Gip’s Place for over sixty years. This juke joint first started in 1952 when Gipson began hosting barbecues in his back yard for blues musicians to entertain friends and neighbors. The well-attended events quickly grew in popularity, and Gip added a small garage and stage.  The authentic juke joint has become a “do not miss” venue for blues musicians across the southeast.
