Montgomery native Kathryn C. Thornton is a physicist and former NASA astronaut. A veteran of four space flights, Thornton has logged over 975 hours in space, including more than 21 hours of extravehicular activity. During her time with NASA, she served on the crew of STS-49 the maiden flight of Space Shuttle Endeavor; helped repair the Hubble Space Telescope; and conducted micro-gravity experiments in Spacelab.
