Founded in 1966, the Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention was spurred by the folk revival of the 1960s and hearkened back to the fiddling contests of the 1920s and 30s. Held on the campus of Athens State University over the course of three days, the convention draws fiddlers from around the world to Limestone County to compete for cash prizes. It’s an essential destination for families and bluegrass legends alike.
